About Sarah

Sarah E. Pearsall is an Assistant Professor of Writing, Rhetoric, Arts, and Culture at Michigan State University. She is celebrating her tenth summer as a creative writing instructor at Interlochen this season. Her debut novel, The Summer Knows, by Koehler Books, comes out June 17, 2025. She is the former food columnist for Around Wellington Magazine. Pearsall's work can be found in Sliver of Stone, Macaroni Kid, Tampa Bay Parenting, The Skeptical Homesteader, and Vintage Kitchen.

Although a Florida native, she now lives in the Interlochen area with her multigenerational family where they plan to build a farmstead. Pearsall loves to write about cooking, her travels, and the woes of building a hobby farm. You can follow her at sarahepearsall.com.

I encourage my students to explore the kaleidoscope of ways they can tell their story. Words are but one way to share their voice with the world and their voice matters.
