Jeffery Kleinsorge, Ph.D.

About Jeffery
Dr. Jeff Kleinsorge serves as the Director of the Preparatory and Community Music Program at Concordia University Chicago, where he also teaches university courses in Piano Pedagogy and Keyboard Skills. A distinguished educator, adjudicator, lecturer, and clinician, Dr. Kleinsorge integrates his diverse academic expertise in performance, pedagogy, and composition to cultivate pianists who are informed, creative, expressive, and accomplished. Previously, he was a faculty member at the New School for Music Study, where he studied under esteemed mentors Louise Goss and Marvin Blickenstaff.
Dr. Kleinsorge's connection to Interlochen dates back to his formative years as a high school camper, later returning to serve as a counselor for high school boys, further deepening his ties to the land of the stately pine.
I believe strongly in well-rounded musicianship. The highest level of performance and achievement should always be matched with informed, intelligent, and artistic musicality, and a deep love of music as a form of personal expression.
Dr. Kleinsorge has held leadership roles on the Board of Directors for both the Chicago Music Teachers Association and the Illinois State Music Teachers Association. He currently serves in an executive capacity on the Board of Directors for the Music Teachers National Association as Secretary-Treasurer.
